nDimensional technology is being used to help large urban transportation organizations monitor and diagnose power spikes along the rail networks. Rail networks must maintain existing rail services and infrastructure, as well as strategically expand and improve the rail network to accommodate growing travel and demand. Power spikes cause damage to power circuits and force rail cars out of service diminishing the rail network capacity. Operating the DC power delivery system more effectively is essential to safe and efficient operations.
Solution: In order to identify the source and gain better insight and visibility into the DC power delivery system, a detection application was built. nD’s machine learning and visualization technologies are being used to evaluate billions of data points of high-frequency current and voltage monitoring instruments. The detector includes visualization and monitoring of millisecond-based data from across the entire rail system efficiently and reliably identifying anomalies to pinpoint the location and source of the damage-causing power spikes.
