Figure 4 - Proportional Flow Control Valve (PFCV) The PFCV is a large valve capable of providing up to 180 liters of air per minute. It provides the air flow to the patient and is controlled via a current signal. The valve is based on a specially designed coil that precisely lifts a metallic ball off the seat to let air flow proportionally to the current signal. Since most microprocessors use a standard D/A converter, a voltage to high current (1A) driver was designed to drive the PFCV. |
