| GOALS The project goals were broken down into two
categories, programming/hardware development and
innovation of inverse control.
The programming and hardware
development consisted of:
- Building a skeleton ventilator and
integrating it with a microcontroller board that
will be used to control it.
- Developing a multitasking OS for
the microcontroller
- Developing the interface and
control software for the microcontroller
- Developing an OLE controller for
NeuroSolutions. This component communicates via
the serial port with the ventilator and sends the
data to NeuroSolutions in packets. This component
can be thought of as a remote control for
NeuroSolutions
- Developing NeuroSolutions
equivalent neural components on the
microcontroller
The inverse control goals were:
- Implement the basic neural inverse
control algorithm on the hardware
- Study proposed enhancements via
simulation
- Implement the best enhancements
- Validate the results using a
mechanical test lung
