Looking for a partner for your application?
|
Have a new application in mind or an existing one that could be enhanced with neural networks or genetic optimization, but not quite sure how to utilize these powerful technologies?
|
|
NeuroDimension is looking for partners with exciting applications that need a hand in bringing those applications to the market. We have over 14 years of experience in the field of artificial intelligence and have worked on many different applications of this technology. If you are interested, please send us a brief description of your application along with your contact information to info@nd.com and we will have someone contact you about a potential partnership.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@nd.com.

Shaping the Oil and Gas Industry with NeuroSolutions!
|
Gary Howorth has been working in the oil and gas industry for 25-years and has a Degree in Electronic Engineering specializing in digital control theory and a MBA. Mr. Howorth has worked for several key corporations in the industry including BP, Arthur Andersen (Petroleum Services Group), PA Consulting and currently PFC Energy performing quantitative analysis on new and obscure modeling.
|
|
Mr. Howorth has been using NeuroSolutions, NeuroSolutions for Excel and the Custom Solutions Wizard for the past 2 years and originally started off using the Interactive Book. But he has been using neural net and adaptive technology for around 10 years. His interest lies in using innovative techniques to help bring insights to complex interactions in energy markets (including analysis of natural gas & oil prices), essentially “making sense of a complex world”.

NeuroSolutions Tip Box: Variation of the Modular Feedforward Network
One of the Neural Model choices within the NeuralBuilder is the Modular Feedforward Network. It is a special case of the MLP, in that the layers are separated into modules. These modules tend to specialize on unique portions of the data, but this is not always the case since the first layer of each module is fed identical input data.
|
|
|
One of the users of the evaluation version of NeuroSolutions proposed a variation of this architecture, in which the first layer of each modular branch have a unique set of input columns. This would force each module to specialize on a subset of the input columns, which could make the neural network’s job easier and produce a more general solution. Additionally, this variant of the Modular Network would combine the outputs from the each of the modular branches and feed those as inputs into another MLP, which would then produce the final output.
This type of architecture demonstrates the level of flexibility offered in NeuroSolutions. The neural network was fairly easy to construct by copying and pasting several copies of an MLP into one breadboard and making the appropriate connections. We have saved a copy of this breadboard for our readers to experiment with:
http://www.nd.com/newsletter/files/ModularVariant.zip
Here are the steps you would need to take to train this breadboard with your data:
- Open the inspector for the first input File component (right-click, then "Properties").
- Click the "Add" button and choose the input file.
- Leave the default Associations and click "Close"
- Tag the input columns for the current modular branch as “Numeric" (or "Symbol" in the case of symbolic data) and tag the remaining columns as "Skip"
- Click the "Close" button and click "Yes" if it asks to modify the number of PEs.
- Repeat steps 1-5 for the remaining input File components.
- Open the inspector for the desired File component.
- Click the "Add" button and choose the desired file (which will often be the same as the input file).
- default Associations and click "Close"
- Tag the desired output column(s) as "Numeric" (or "Symbol" in the case of symbolic data) and tag the remaining columns as "Skip"
- Click the "Close" button and click "Yes" if it asks to modify the number of PEs.
- Click the "Start" button to train the network.
